Our Anniversary
This year for our 3rd anniversary rather than flying off to some big city as we had done the past two years (San Fran and New York), we decided with our little man we should do something a bit closer to home. This year we rented an adorable cabin on Lake Taylorsville, about 30minutes from our house. We stayed two nights with Mike's parents and sister coming out to the cabin the first night for a little family fun. The second night Mike's parents took Mahkii back to our house so that we could spend our first night alone with out Mahkii since he came home from hospital. Sadly, as soon as Mike's parents left we took a nap lasting 5 hours only to wake up, eat dinner enjoy the hot tub over looking the lake for a short time and then back to bed just over 2 hours after waking up from our nap. Although we spent little time together on this anniversary trip we certainly did manage to catch up on some much needed sleep we weren't even aware that we needed. We also managed to survive a night away from Mahkii which was a bit hard for us but we got back to him quickly the following morning and knowing that we were only a short drive away made it much better! Perhaps next year we will venture back to city again, maybe Chicago but we will have to wait and see, who knows there may just be another little one by then! (yes we have pics of this trip too- we will post them soon I promise)

Christmas Dinner
So the weekend after Christmas we were finally able to celebrate the holiday. Santa brought Mahkii countless presents including tons of new toys and clothes plus a few things for his room! Mike got Angela a sofa for the theater room and a digital video camera to capture all of Mahkii's wonderful firsts. Angela got Mike a 65" TV for the media room and an I-Pod for all his great tunes! We hosted our first Christmas dinner ever and it was a success. We had Mike's parents and sister, Aunt Patty, Uncle Tom, Danny and Helen over. We served a delicious Christmas ham, sweet potatoes, salad, steamed veggies, dinner rolls, broccoli and cheese and of course apple pie for desert provided by Granda and Grandmac. Despite not yet having a dining room table or a finished formal dining room we made it work quite nicely with fold out tables and decorative ribbon on the wall where the chair-rail will someday be placed! Angela missed her family back in California terribly this year, more so than other years, this being the first holiday with Mahkii, but all in all the day was a great success and quite enjoyable. We will post some pictures soon we promise!

Holiday Party
So Saturday night Mike and I hosted our first holiday party and the first large gathering at our new home. The party was a success! Unfortunately, we never pulled out our camera so we will have to hope that someone did at some point so we can post some pictures. Mike had fellow co-workers and gamers that attended while Angela had quite a few co-workers show up. A family friend as well as Mahkii's nanny and her family made an appearance as well! The party was what Mike refers to as "Kentucky" style, meaning it didn't end until nearly 4am. Considering in California bars close at 2am Mike and I are used to partying early in the evening and going to bed at a decent hour, but that is not the case here since most are used to the late night partying with bars that close at 4am. We served some very cool winter drinks- Spiced apple cider with cinamon schnapps, hot cocco with peppermint schnapps, and egg-nog with spiced rum! We had a great deal of fun and now as we due the clean up we are starting to set up for our Christmas dinner we will be hosting next weekend when Mike's family is in town to celebrate Christmas with us on Saturday.
