Papa John 10miler

At the end of March we ran the 10mile race along with Mike's dad. Again, our times were nothing to brag about in relation to last year but certainly another big accomplishment. Mike wasn't too terribly off his pace but was still not the happiest with his performance. I on the other hand ran 2min/mile slower this year which I had anticipated being the case. Following the 10k I had a great deal of hip pain so went into the 10mile knowing that in that in terms of having appropriate healing and recovery from 3 births in a short period of time that I shouldn't put too much force on my hips by running 10miles on pavement. I essentially warmed up for three miles and then ran intervals for the next 5miles doing 10min on (jogging) followed by 5min off (power-walking) then finished off the race running the last 2 miles at a faster pace and was actually able to finish the last mile just under 8min pace so that was the highlight of my run. Doing intervals definitely made it a challenging workout style run but ultimately led to a much slower time than last year with the added walking. Hopefully next year I can pick up the pace again and get some good performances! Here is our family post race shot!

Rodes City 10K

Several weeks back Mike and I ran the Rodes City 10k, the second of the triple crown races. Our times were much behind last years with Mike being about 7min slower and Angela 13min slower. The fact is WE did it!!! I am proud to say I was able to finish the entire race without walking-- though I imagine I could have walked faster at times! Here is our 10k post race shot for this year, with the addition of Maezyn and Mathus!

A Few Pics from March....

The best shot I've managed to get of the three of them together. Pathetic I know. It will probably be years before we get a decent one of these!
Maezyn and Mathus. Maez is attached to his little brother, always wanting to hold him and calls him "bay-bay" in such a sweet innocent voice!

Baby Mathus and his BIG brown eyes looking precious as always!

Mahkii and Mathus and laying in bed together, one of Mahkii's favorite things to do--lay on the "big" bed with baby Math!

Computer Dilema & Weight Loss Battles....

Sorry for the delay in posts. Believe it or not my hard-drive is out of memory. I don't even have enough memory to upload any pictures from my digital camera, thus the lack of posts since all my pictures are stuck there instead of on my computer. Not to worry though mike ordered me a HUGE (won't even begin to use computer language to say how big) new hard drive so once that arrives I will be back in the photo business and therefore posts will resume!

As for weight loss, well I have continued to lose a little each week with the exception of week where I gained nearly 3lbs, not sure what the heck happened there but I lost the same amount back the following week so back on track. As of this weeks weigh in I am down a total of 17.8lbs. Things seem to be moving a bit slower then I'd prefer and I am feeling rather frustrated but know if I do my best to keep at it then I will get to where I want to be. For me this needs to be a full lifestyle change over time so it can be maintained versus some crazy diet to get the weight off quick though it would really feel nice to suddenly be thin again! Anyway, thank you for all the support along my journey and the encouragement to stick with it is always appreciated and certainly helps to pull me out of my slumps I get into!

Mathus Dr. Seuss Pics

Well since Mahkii and Maezyn have their Thing 1/Thing 2 pictures up in their Dr. Seuss themed room I figured I better get a picture of Mathus to add to the room since it is after all his room too!!!! So here are some of my top picks from a few shots I took the other day.

Nana & Gramps Visit

Well we survived our first week post-Nana's visit!!! Nana was such a helping hand while she was here it made for a hard week this past week without her. Nana came in on Saturday and was able to stay all the way through the following Saturday and Gramps flew in mid-week on Wed also leaving on Saturday! Angela was able to have a "date" night with her mom which they spent painting pottery at a cool little art studio. Angela and Mike also got to go on a date night which they spent at the shooting range- a cool new experience for the both of them. Mike and Angela also went and ran the Anthem 5K while Nana and Gramps were available to watch over the boys. Finally, we sent Nana and Gramps out on a well deserved date night to our favorite steak house!!! The time Angela got to spend with her mom was AWESOME... but it has made her miss her mom even more.
Mahkii bonded very well with Gramps, clinging to him most of his visit. Maezyn was Nana's little snuggle bug and of course Mathus just slept, ate, cried, and pooped!!! Nana will sure tell you they all pooped and pooped and pooped (hehehehe). Nana probably changed more diapers in her week here than she has in years--THANK YOU!!!! Nana and Gramps also took Mahkii on a special day to the Louisville Slugger Museum and again Maezyn slept the whole time and had no idea Mahkii got to go anywhere special. Nana said Mahkii was amazingly well behaved on their outing though he came home and turned into quite the trouble maker.
Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures since our hands always seemed to be full but we did have lots of good memories and if we get a hold of any of the pics from Nana or Gramps cameras we will be sure to add them. Also, we will post a picture of the pottery Nana and Angela made!!!

Anthem 5K Fitness Classic

Well we did it, we finished the 5K again this year. Mike did good running in 25minutes, Angela on the other hand just finished the race-- not a good time at all but a huge accomplishment to have finished just 8wks after having Mathus and having gotten in just one run since her pregnancy started and weighing 20lbs more than she did when she ran it last year. The race was a huge wake up call to the need to get to the gym or out on the road WAY more often and really turn around this whole weight loss journey. Both of us want to be active parents with our kids as they grow up and we know lifestyle changes are necessary and now that we are done having kids it is definitely the time to turn things around! We are on a mission to bring an increased level of health into our household for both our kids and us! Wish us luck not only on this journey to healthy living, weight loss, good eating habits, physically active and mentally healthy too but also on our upcoming race in 2wks our 10K!!!!

(a photo that definitely gives me TONS of motivation to work even harder to get my body back)

Giving In.....

Well, we have officially gave into our competitive sides and signed up for not only the Mini-marathon in April but for the entire triple crown which starts with a 5K in just under 2wks followed by a 10k in mid-march and a 10-mile race in late march. I have officially been cleared by my doctor to begin running again as of tomorrow Feb. 14th and have until the 26th to get my rear in gear for the 5K...... Wish me luck, I will definitely need it for this one! This years goal: FINISH THE RACE!!!

Pop's Visit

Well with three kids to chase after now we have found the camera coming out less and less and unfortunately Pop's visit was no exception to that change. We did at least capture a couple of pics of the boys playing in the snow with Pop even though they aren't the best since I was inside the house holding Mathus trying to capture a few good shots and keep the baby warm!

The boys had a great time getting to know their Pop a bit better with some one on one time this trip. Pop took each of the boys on their own "special" time with him to go shopping. Both Pop and the boys LOVED their alone time together and according to Pop the boys behaved wonderfully! He also took Mahkii on a special bowling trip which he had never done before and was a big hit, something Mike and I will definitely have to continue doing with him. I was worried Maezyn would be upset with Pop taking Mahkii and not him but sure enough Maez fell asleep before they left and didn't wake up until they returned so has far as he knows Mahkii never went anywhere! Pop loved holding Mathus and rocking him to sleep as well. It was a great time having him here and this trip made him say that he wants to come back more often, which is a pretty big deal for us since he is always complaining about Kentucky and us living here! (way to go boys on convincing your Pop to visit more!!!!!) We are all hoping that Pop will be able to make it some time in April, either to join us in taking the boys to Thunder or later in the month/early May for other derby festivities--- we will just have to wait and see......

1-month & 18months

Well Mathus and Maezyn had their check-ups today.

Mathus- Has gained almost 4lbs in 4wks, weighing in at 9lbs 8.4oz, up from hospital discharge weight of just 6lbs 3oz. Needless to say they were VERY impressed especially since he is only breastfed. This weight put him the 50th percentile. As for height, well the little man only grew 1in putting him at just 20in. which is the 10th percentile. Everything else checked out just PERFECT, the N.P. was very pleased!

Maezyn- Well middle man jumped up big time in height moving from the 10th percentile up to the 50th at 32in. As for weight he dropped just a tiny bit on the scale from the 35th down to the 25th percentile (no surprise with the huge jump in height) weighing in now at 23lbs 11oz. His 2 year molars are trying to pop through already. His motor skills are quite impressive and rather advanced for his age and the N.P. found his personality and awareness of social ques to be off the charts for his age!

Back in Shape

Well last year we did a GREAT job getting into shape and running races all spring--- Sadly, with this last pregnancy both of us didn't keep up with the program and we are back where we had started last September. So, this week we jumped back on board with weight watchers and will begin incorporating workouts in the next few weeks. We once again have the challenge of the boys and the gym daycare-- Mathus being too young and the older ones bringing home germs, so we are staying out of the gym for just a bit until Mathus has a stronger immune system. We decided not to participate in the triple crown this year since we got a later start and it is quite pricey and we are both to competitive to spend the $ and not be improving on last years times. They also moved the races up a bit with the first being in Feb. (it was too cold in march no way will we run it in feb!). So we will keep everyone posted on how the weight loss progresses and we will post some pictures throughout our journey. Mike has a goal of 25-30lbs, and Angela has a goal of 40-50lbs. Those weights will bring us back to our college days so lets see if we can do it!!!

Christmas 2010

Christmas was a bit different for us this year as it was more of a quite day. With Angela being nearly due we didn't travel anywhere and with everyone's busy schedules no family was able to make it into town this year either so we had a "quiet" (yeah right) at home Christmas!

Well on Christmas eve day we decided to bake sugar cookies and have Aunt Patty, Uncle Tom, Chris, Danny and Helen over to decorate cookies with the boys and celebrate the holiday with them. This was a great time-- the boys did really good with the decorating and exceptionally good with the eating of the cookies!!!

We received amazing gifts from everyone and look forward to our couples massage that Danny and Helen gave us in our 3 under 3 survival bin! The boys got into opening presents as well and absolutely loved their cars scene rug.

That night we had a nice quiet ham dinner with just the four of us then sat by the fire allowing the kids to open their christmas eve traditional PJ gift and then read The Night Before Christmas. Granda and Grandpa had requested we open their gift on Christmas-Eve and it was the book (the night before christmas) and when you turn the pages it is Granda and Grandpa reading the story with sound effects and all included--- GREAT job!!! The boys got a kick out of hearing their grandparents read the story.

Once the boys were in bed we set up "santa" which included a picnic table for the boys to share along with 54 Dr. Seuss books to go in their "new" Dr. Seuss decorated room (we will get to that) and of course a ton of cars! Their shared stocking was stuffed with all the essentials from diapers, to bath toys, sippy cups and utensils.

They each had their own stockings as well with a movie and socks, underwear, hats, gloves etc. Santa brought Mahkii a Cars bike and Maezyn a tricycle. Plus they each received a real child size broom so they can help mommy clean and rain and snow boots too!!!!

It was a great Christmas filled with amazing gifts from everyone and more importantly some nice family time. Although the day was not as relaxing as we had hoped since the kids were so hyped up but all in all it was amazing to just stay in PJ's all day and spend quality time together!

Oh, we also got the surprise of a "white Christmas"-- Here is our house on Christmas Eve
